With The Explorer’s Passage, you have the choice between a variety of tour options in an Everest Base Camp Trek.
With The Explorer’s Passage, you can choose to book a private trip (i.e. with only friends/family) using custom dates, or you can join an existing pre-scheduled group trek with other travelers. For the group trips, we run several departures per month during the months of March, April, May, September, October, and November (please see our trip page for more details).
Travel Notes
- Our E.B.C. Trek trip pricing already includes:
- the ticket costs for the domestic airplane flights between Lukla (the trek start point) and Ramechhap airports [note: this is not a standard inclusion with many of our competitors];
- airport transfers in Nepal;
- all lodging accommodations in Kathmandu and on the trail during the trip dates;
- full-day guided sightseeing tour of key sites in Kathmandu (including entrance fees);
- all meals during the trekking portion of the trip, and welcome and farewell dinners in Kathmandu;

Single Supplements
Because all standard trip pricing is based on double occupancy in accommodations, a “single supplement” fee applies if someone wants their own hotel room, instead of sharing a room. Please note that for this trip, single supplements can only be guaranteed in Kathmandu. Because of how the tea houses near Everest Base Camp operate, single rooms cannot usually be guaranteed along the trekking route (especially during the spring and autumn trekking seasons). If single rooms are available during your E.B.C. trek, we will use the relevant pricing from the tables above.
Helicopter Pricing (for 14 Day Itinerary Option)
For the 14 day itinerary option mentioned earlier on this page, please note that pricing for the helicopter between Pheriche and Kathmandu is variable, contingent primarily upon the number of passengers per flight (up to five per helicopter with bags).* The helicopter pricing is also separate from the overall trip pricing, and therefore not included in the base pricing listed in the tables above.
- Typically, the helicopter ride from Pheriche to Kathmandu Airport will cost between $4,500-4,900 USD for one helicopter. Based on this, here are the approximate costs per person for a helicopter from Pheriche to Kathmandu:
- 1 passenger in helicopter (i.e. you’re the only passenger): ~$4,900 USD per person
- 2 passengers in helicopter: ~$2,450 USD per person
- 3 passengers in helicopter: ~$1,633 USD per person
- 4 passengers in helicopter: ~$1,225 USD per person
- 5 passengers in helicopter: ~$980 USD per person
*If you are a solo traveler or traveling as a couple, please note that there can be opportunities to share a helicopter with other trekkers – although this can sometimes be a ‘wait and see’ scenario in Pheriche, considering the various factors at play in this remote part of Nepal.
Additional Upgrade/Excursion Options
As noted earlier, there are a number of customizations and trip add-ons that you may be interested in. The options listed below can apply to either the 18 day or 14 day itinerary options, as well as to private treks or group treks:
- Sleep at Everest Base Camp: $250 USD per person per night. For trekkers who want an undeniably unique experience, you can opt to spend a night at Everest Base Camp * – one of the world’s most extraordinary overnights! Our team handles every aspect of camp operations, so that you can focus on enjoying the experience. Tents at E.B.C. will be ready and waiting for you, and a hearty dinner will be served in a communal dining tent.
- *Important Notes: camping at Everest Base Camp is subject to availability. Furthermore, an overnight stay at E.B.C. means that there will not be enough time to ascend the Kalapathar Viewpoint on the following day (typically on Day 11 as described in the standard itinerary). Also, single supplement options are not available at E.B.C.
- Flight over Mount Everest: $345 USD per person. Soar above Everest in a fixed-wing plane, and enjoy incomparable views of the entire landscape (what more is there to say!).
- One porter per trekker: instead of the standard 2:1 trekker-to-porter ratio, you can have one porter for each individual trekker in your group (depending on staff availability).
- For 18 day itineraries, this is an additional $325 USD per person; or
- For 14 day itineraries, this is an additional $165 USD per person.
- Upgraded rooms in some tea houses: in some of the villages along the E.B.C. route (specifically Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Debouche, and Pheriche), you can upgrade your room in the tea house. Please note that this depends on availability in each village, and is only possible for shared rooms (no single rooms).
- For 18 day itineraries, this is an additional $455 USD per person; or
- For 14 day itineraries, this is an additional $260 USD per person.
- Additional nights during the trekking portion: if you would like to add a night or two during the trek, it is $100 USD per person per additional night (please note that this is only possible if every member of your group is also interested in doing the same).
- Extra nights in Kathmandu: if you would like to extend your time in Nepal, we are happy to help arrange additional nights in Kathmandu. At Hotel Marshyangdi, it is $59 USD per person per additional night in a shared 2-person room, and $89 USD per person per additional night in a single 1-person room.
